Engine Management

What do I do if my engine management light comes on?

The engine management light may come on when you turn on the ignition but should then immediately go back off. It’s connected to your car’s engine control unit (ECU) and is often the first indicator that there’s a problem in one of the many systems within the car.

If the engine management light doesn’t go off, the only thing you can really do to find out what’s causing this is to come into Autocentre. We have a wide range of dealer-level diagnostic equipment at our workshop in Chorley, which connects to your car’s ECU and helps our expert diagnostic technicians to pinpoint exactly what the problem is, that way we can get it sorted for you quickly, and accurately. Once the fault has been repaired, we reset the ECU so that the engine management light goes off.

Autocentre is proud to have over 500 five-star Google reviews from drivers from across Chorley and the surrounding areas of Euxton, Coppull, Adlington, Astley Village and Buckshaw Village. We are a member of HEVRA, the network of independent garages that are vetted to ensure they have the correct equipment, tools, and technical qualifications to work safely on electric and hybrid models, and we are also suppliers of Pagid brake products, a world-leading brand specialising in advanced braking systems.
